This is the improved bradford pear which was the first variety of Calleryana to be introduced. Deciduous tree, 30-40 feet tall. Upright conical shape that is wider than chanticleer, but not quite as broad as the aristocrat. Leaves are narrow, glossy, and change to purple-red to orange in the fall. Flowers are white, and borne in clusters. Very adaptable to many different soils; tolerates pollution. Hardy to USDA Zone 4.
